Towering Inferno is the duo of Andy Saunders and Richard Wolfson. Recorded over a three year period in London and Budapest, with the help of veterans Elton Dean, John Marshall and Chris Cutler, Kaddish (Island, 1994) is a terrifying multimedia opera about the Holocaust that employs ambient, noise, industrial, heavy metal, dub and found voices (including Hitler's). At times achieving the intensity of Foetus' symphonies and the subtlety of the Canterbury intelligentsia of the 1970s, the album includes Eastern European folk songs delivered by Muzsikas' Marta Sebestyen.
