Did You ever wonder what commercial cinema would be like without the shit? What if we could listen to sound as it is, as many artists work hard at, but sadly complying with the hollywood selling scheme? Nunnanen did.
Being born in Helsinki, Finland and a scholar of cinematographic montage. He lived and surfed in California for 3 years, where he became very interested in the structures of sellable films. Seppo Nunnanen came up with a strategy that could be paired with the Beat generation and the Cut Up narrative. And alienating every melodramatic element of 6 films, cutting up every episode of the epic Star Wars saga, building a noise-like narrative where the sounds of everyday life and a very film-like nature collide to form a piece where, types of sound that are normally discriminated when listened to out of the context of a film theatre and/or a race track take the form of an art installation.
In an educational imperative over what usually is discarded as an underground, non musical, violent, and offensive discipline that noise music is often taken for. Nunnanen creates a sound space that shows, in over 50 minutes of soundscape, what the commercial technics reveal of a sound culture that has lived for more than 90 years as a creative act. Noise music and sound creation remain as the underground, left outcast for the specialized and live on the shadow of the meaningless cinematographic and sport giants of the mainstream.
