Don Leslie's organ speaker, the so called "Pipe Voice of the Electric Organ,"

appeared first in the 1930's as did it's intended musical complement/soul mate;

the motorized tonewheel HAMMOND Organ. Both were elegant mixtures of electronics

and machinery so sturdy in their manufacture and so sweet in their sound that they

are effectively still "state of the art," after more than 70 years of music.


Semi-conductor based imitations of these euphonic workhorses are more about

portability and profit and less about sound quality and warmth.


Sometime between the 1930's and today, a pre-amplified guitar signal was seren-

dipitously fed into one of these contraptions. Imagine the JOY of that moment.
