Na 57 jaar hyperslaap wordt Ripley toevallig opgepikt door een ruimteschip. Ze krijgt tijd om zich te ontspannen en hoopt dat de nachtmerrie met het levensgevaarlijke buitenaardse monster eindelijk voorbij is.
Helaas heeft een kolonie terraformers op de planeet LV-426 het ruimteschip ontdekt waar de Alien vandaan kwam. Een paar weken na Ripley's terugkeer verliest het controlecentrum het contact met LV-426.
Ripley besluit om samen met een elite-commandogroep naar LV-426 te gaan om te kijken of ze de kolonisten kunnen helpen. Maar bij aankomst op de planeet blijkt dat de kolonie helemaal verlaten is.
Of toch niet?

Unfortunately has a colony terraformers on the planet LV-426 the spacecraft discovers where the Alien from here came. A few weeks after Ripley's return loses the control center the contact with LV-426.
Ripley decide to go look at round together with an elite-command group LV-426 in order to or can help they the colonists. But by arrival on the planet appeared that the colony totally leave is.
Or really not?
