London in the mid 1950s. Ex-major Gregory Hemmings recruits a team of disgraced former army officers to undertake a daring raid on a central London bank. The outcome though, cannot be foreseen.

The originally book was made into a film in the early 1960s and portrayed as an amicable caper. In this modern adaptation however, the tone is much darker, and possibly closer to the original.
