Named for Ella Fitzgerald\'s signature song at Birdland, the legendary club that was her New York home away from home during the first half of the 1950s, Lullabies Of Birdland collected 11 bebop- and blues-oriented performances recorded for Decca between 1947 and 1955. They display her unsurpassed mastery of the art of scat singing and remains, more than half a century later, a great collection of vocal improvisation.
