Robert Langlois, stagiaire chez un avocat, perd sa place. Vivant chez ses parents il ne leur parle pas de sa situation et, pour vivre, donne des leçons particulières. Il rencontre une jeune fille, Catherine, dont il tombe amoureux. Cette dernière élève une petite fille – l'enfant de sa sœur morte en couches. Tant qu'il ne peut faire face aux problèmes de son futur ménage, Robert parvient à faire engager Catherine comme bonne chez ses parents. Peu à peu, Catherine s'intègre chez les Langlois. Robert peut alors déclarer qu'il aime Catherine et l'épouser.

The hero, Robert (Robert Lamoureux) is fired for making a pass at one of the girls in his office. It wasn't his freshness that got him canned, but his clumsiness with the opposite sex. Normally, Robert would go to his parents (Fernand Ledoux and Gaby Morlay) for advice, but this is a more delicate situation.
