Depois de se mudar para uma pequena cidade rural no interior do país, o carrancudo Joel Bixby (John Cariani) é convidado a participar de um encontro de moradores que acontece em um ponto mais distante da localidade. Acostumado a viver sozinho, Joel se impressiona com o espirituoso Leo Applegate (Ed Asner) e fica com receio de ir à reunião. Sem saber que foi escolhido com substituto de um membro do grupo que acabou de falecer, Joel conhece os frequentadores do encontro e cai de paraquedas nas estranhas vidas deles, sem entender direito o motivo de eles se reunirem sempre. Porém, essa proximidade com o cotidiano de todos acaba revelando o que cada um deles guarda para si e Joel vê algo de comum entre todos eles, inclusive ele próprio: de algum modo eles se perderam na vida. Entre os novos amigos de Joel estão o deslumbrado Dink (Jack Kehler), que está entrando em contato com seu lado feminino e ama sua esposa careca, o ex-pastor Perry (David Wells), que está vivendo uma crise de fé, e o instável Nick (Mark Fite), que perdeu seu trabalho e sua família. E conforme suas vidas se cruzam, Joel percebe que tem mais em comum com eles do que imaginava e todos querem algo semelhante: algum tipo de milagre!

After moving to a small rural town in the interior of the country, frowning Joel Bixby (John Cariani) is invited to attend a meeting of residents that happens at a point farthest from the locality. Accustomed to living alone, Joel is impressed with the witty Leo Applegate (Ed Asner) and is afraid to go to the meeting. Without knowing who was chosen to substitute a party member who just passed away, Joel knows goers meet and fall parachute in strange their lives without understanding why they ever meet. However, this proximity with everyday all ends up revealing that each keep to themselves and Joel sees something in common between all of them, including himself: somehow they get lost in life. Among the new friends of Joel are dazzled the Dink (Jack Kehler), which is by contacting your feminine side and loves his wife bald, former pastor Perry (David Wells), who is experiencing a crisis of faith, and the unstable Nick (Mark Fite), who lost his job and his family. And as their lives intersect, Joel realizes he has more in common with them than I thought and they all want something similar: some kind of miracle!
