A bickering couple (Alan Rickman and Polly Walker) drive fast through a downpour to catch the last ferry to their island retreat. In a flash, they recognize a crumpled body laying at the side of the road after much argument they stop, only to find a young boy (Norman Reedus) battered and bruised. An offer of summoning the police firmly rejected, the two help the boy as best they can although it certainly means missing the ferry...and so starts this thriller: a tale of twisted sexual attraction and ulterior motives.

Filmens handling
Det är natt och regnet öser ner. David och Alexis Weinberg sitter
i bilen på väg till sitt lyxiga sommarställe i Maine. Deras
förhållande är minst sagt frostigt. Men så händer något som bryter
den iskalla stämningen, en mörkklädd person faller ihop på vägen.
De stannar och möts av synen av en ung, sönderslagen man. David
tycker det verkar misstänksamt och vill ringa polisen, men
främlingen övertalar honom att låta bli. De skjutsar honom till
närmaste by där de skiljs åt. Men Alexis erbjuder den unge mannen
skydd för natten. Hon känner sig allmer dragen till nykomlingen.
En berättelse om farligt begär och dolda motiv tar sin börjar.
Frågan är bara vem det egentligen är som lurar vem?
