Once a staple of Hong Kong Cinema, the Category III sexploitation film makes a return with The Forbidden Legend: Sex & Chopsticks, directed by genre veteran Chin Man Kei (Sex and Zen 2). The first of two films adapting the classic Chinese novel Jin Ping Mei, a.k.a. The Plum in the Golden Vase, Sex & Chopsticks brings with it the ornate costumes, elaborate settings and softcore silliness that the genre is known for. Lam Wai Kin My Horny Girlfriend) stars as legendary lothario Simon Qing, a well-off scholar who ignores morality to conquer a number of comely women. As his conquests, the filmmakers cast Japanese AV actresses Wakana Hikaru, Hayakawa Serina, and Uehara Kaera, who have no problems disrobing for the film's copious nude scenes. Also featuring an appearance from old-school martial arts actor Norman Tsui Siu Keung and a cameo from Hong Kong starlet Winnie Leung, foreshadowing her pivotal role in the film's sequel.
