The film tells the story of Helen McCarter, a woman with an absolutely perfect life, next to her husband Charles McCarter building a successful career as a lawyer in Atlanta. They have all the possessions with which they can dream of, including a fancy mansion and complete. However, on the night of the 18th wedding anniversary, Helen's paradise begins to crumble when Charles announces that he wants a divorce. He suddenly and literally throws Helen out of the mansion to make room for another woman.
