Plot: A mysterious alien mothership becomes disabled hovering over the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. With the assistance of the South African Government the aliens ("prawns" as the people refer to them) are inhabiting an area known as District 9 unable to leave the planet. Although far more advanced in robotics, biotechnology and weaponry than humans the prawns remarkably don't wage a full scale war with their human counterparts. They simply seem to be waiting until a solution can be found to go back to their spaceship and must endure the hardships they have come to realize on Earth.
