Tommy Tilden (Brian Cox) and Austin Tilden (Emile Hirsch), his son, are responsible for running the morgue of a small town in the interior of the United States. The jobs they get are usually very quiet because of the quiet nature of the city, but one day the local sheriff (Michael McElhatton) brings a complicated case: an unknown woman was found dead on the outskirts of the city - Jane Doe in the American jargon. As the father and son try to discover the identity of the dead woman, strange and dangerous things begin to occur, putting their lives in danger.
