Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar are two young men who met in the summer of 1963 after being hired to care for Joe Aguirre's sheep at Brokeback Mountain. Jack wants to be a cowboy and is working the place for the 2nd year running, while Ennis plans to marry Alma as soon as summer is over. Living alone for weeks, they become more and more friends and begin a loving relationship. At the end of the summer each one follows his life, but the period lived that summer will mark their lives forever.
