June 1940. The Germans are preparing to invade Paris. Odile (Emmanuelle Béart) obeys the general panic and leaves the city together with his two sons, Philippe (Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet) and Cathy (Clémence Meyer). But at the beginning of the pilgrimage, the Germans bombed and shot the refugee camp. An ornate, shaved-headed boy (Gaspard Ulliel) appears from a ditch to save them. His name is Yvan, and he is only 16 years old. They go into the field and discover a large house abandoned by their owners.
