Almost everyone in Los Angeles has contracted the measles and the doctor has places the entire pueblo under quarantine. The padre has brought a large gold chalice to Los Angeles for use in the mission and wants the town to know of its arrival. He asks Diego, who has already had the measles, to take him through the pueblo so the people can see the religious symbol. Unfortunately, the gold chalice proves too much of a temptation to the padre's servant.
