Fuck Buddies - Jupiter (2006) [folk] Dead Bees Records torrent

The more I listen to Jupiter, the new album from Fuck Buddies, the more uncomfortable I feel raving about it.
It's not that it isn't an album worth hearing -- much like last year's A Storm, it's very good. It's just that Sébastien (the man behind Fuck Buddies) tends to disguise genuinely disturbing lyrics behind soft, inviting music. Songs like "An Awkward Position", "Your Friend" and "Falling In Love" may all sound like the usual lover's laments over acoustic guitar, but listen closely and you hear lines like "I try to smile it's not working / I try to cry nothing happens ... It's a jump and I'm going up".
Then again, if the songs didn't have distracting melodies, people would be left to listen to songs like "A Weak Heart", which deals with the death of a boyfriend, a best friend, a brother and a son, without any kind of barrier. It's dark and depressing stuff, but on the flipside it's also extraordinarily pretty. Give Fuck Buddies a listen, then, but don't be surprised if you feel a little sad afterward.
