This is big, large scale film making and while I still find the aesthetic peculiar in places - it’s amazing how much a vision of the future can be shaped by culture - there are a fistful of undeniably beautiful sequences in there. And given the strength of Bondarchuk’s recent work - he is easily one of the premiere directors in Russia - I continue to expect good things. Check it below the break!
