Plot:
The astonishing attempt by two Bavarian climbers to be the first to conquer the north face of the Eiger seemingly equipped with little more than home-made pitons and any old rope is the subject of director Philipp Stoltz’s superlative drama. The 1936 assault on the 1,800m wall of stone and ice was seen by a propaganda-obsessed Nazi Germany as a potentially Olympic gold-winning bid to solve “the last problem of the Western Alps”. Superbly shot and compellingly acted by Benno Fuermann and Florian Lukas, it’s Touching The Void in flat caps and hobnail boots....
