Vijf vrienden worden op een ogenschijnlijk normale ochtend wakker en ontdekken dat de stroom is uitgevallen en hun mobiele telefoons en de radio geen signaal hebben. Geen van de buren weet wat de oorzaak is en al snel krijgen ze het nieuws te horen dat half Groot-Brittannië er mee te maken heeft. Maar zonder informatie en geen idee wat te doen, wordt de sfeer al snel slechter. Twee nachten later worden ze plots gewekt door wat lijkt op een aardbeving.
