Grey Gardens (1975) is a documentary depicting the everyday
lives of the two Edith Beales, a reclusive socialite mother
and daughter of the same name who lived at Grey Gardens, a
decrepit mansion in the wealthy Georgica Pond neighborhood
of East Hampton, New York. The two women were the aunt and
first cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and
lived together at Grey Gardens for decades with limited
funds, resulting in squalor and almost total isolation.

Grey Gardens (2009) is an HBO film about the lives of the
Beales, played by Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore. The
film flashes back and forth between various events and
dates ranging from Little Edie as a young débutante in 1936
moving with her mother to their Grey Gardens estate through
the filming and premiere of the actual 1975 documentary
Grey Gardens.
