When the gang suspects that Barney has a girlfriend after he mysteriously leaves MacLaren's, they decide to follow him, only to find to their shock that Barney has a wife and child they never knew about. As the plot unravels the gang soon find out that Barney's 'Family' are paid actors that he hired when he feared for his mother's life. Once the gang know this they try to persuade Barney to tell his mother, meanwhile Ted is caught kissing Barney's fake wife which leads him to confess all to his eccentric mom.
