A four-part dramatization based on the true story of Van Nguyen, a Vietnamese-Australian, widely known as ‘The Baby of Death Row’. Better Man tells the powerful account of a young man desperately trying to provide for his family, for which he paid the ultimate price.

From the tough but loving upbringing that Van shared with his twin brother and devoted mother, to the gripping and heart-stopping events following his arrest in Singapore having been convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced with the death penalty. This confronting story culminates in an extraordinary three-year legal battle led by Melbourne lawyer, Julian McMahon and Melbourne QC, Lex Lasry to save the young man’s life.
