PLOT SUMMARY

See the Butcher. Alone he stands. At a remove from caring and too
close to a world he watches with hatred. He has no name. No job.
Just the ruins of his former life recounted through artefacts long
ago lost. The eyes bear witness with furious resentment. Orphaned
at a young age; abused by a priest. With few prospects he becomes
a butcher of horse meat. Neither vocation, nor noble profession,
the work does not equip the Butcher to deal with the newborn daughter.
This world is hers to inherit. The mother has vanished. The girls
protection is his responsibility, alone. Alone always. He stabs a
man he has wrongly accused of his daughters rape and is sent to
prison. His business is sold to a Muslim butcher. The girl is
institutionalised. The Butcher finds solace with his cellmate.
Upon release he finds work at a tavern where he starts dating the
owner. She promises to buy him another shop. She falls pregnant.
They move north. Promises are not kept. His loveless relationship
hinges on the financial power the woman uses to control him. He is
accused of an affair at a nursing home. He assaults the former tavern
owner. There is no chance of survival for the baby. Again, the axis
has been removed from his world. Embittered and past his prime in a
country whose dire economic situation mirrors his lifelong hopelessness
he begs for work. Beyond the grasp of god or law he will move to
Paris and take up at the flophouse where his daughter was conceived.
Unable to find a job he acquires a gun with three bullets. Each will
be assigned to a different person
