About the film:
The film takes place on the eve of World War II in Austria. A young girl named Maria, who was left an orphan, finds shelter in a convent and is about to become a nun. However, because of her love of life, she manages to do it with difficulty, and the abbess of the monastery understands that such a path is not for her young novice. In connection with this, she is offered the place of a governess in a family consisting of an army officer, patriot of her fatherland, whose wife recently died, and his seven children. Once in the house, Maria finds out that she is no longer the first governess in this family, the head of the family is closed, dry and grumpy, and the children are unhappy and fearful and do not let anyone in to themselves, grieving about the mother and suffering from her father's coldness.
