“Song of the South” takes place in the southern United States during the Reconstruction era, a period of American history after the end of the American Civil War and the abolition of slavery. The story follows seven-year-old Johnny who is visiting his grandmother's plantation for an extended stay. Johnny befriends Uncle Remus, one of the workers on the plantation, and takes joy in hearing his tales about the adventures of Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear. Johnny learns from the stories how to cope with the challenges he is experiencing while living on the plantation.

“Song of the South” was produced by Walt Disney studios and released in 1946. It has never been commercially available to the U.S. but has been available on VHS in other foreign countries. There is no official version available on DVD or Blu-ray. In more recent times, Disney has vowed to never re-release the movie for fear that it might cause outrage over its sensitive content (possibly racist)
An individual by the name of Notelu remastered “Song of the South” from an original 35 mm film enhancing the picture, color and audio. It was upgraded for 1080 HD Blu-ray quality and made available over the internet in 2018 at archive.org
