A refreshing new TV programme well worth investing time in. Fast paced, smart and funny but without taking away from the serious nature of the subject matter. Season 1 focuses mostly on developing the characters of Bobby Axelrod and Chuck Rhoades but lays a lot of ground work for developing the supporting characters giving Billions strength. At the centre of Billions are two strong marriages which makes a good change from what seems to have become the norm on TV. Billions follows a hedge fund manager (Bobby Axelrod) and the US Attorney (Chuck Rhoades) trying to catch him. You do not need to understand the jargon to follow Billions as, although there is some and it is set in the hedge fund world, it is more about the relationships and the consequences on those around Bobby and Chuck because of their actions. It is also financially very relevant.

Billions has a very good cast. Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti and Maggie Siff will take a lot of credit (rightly so), but David Costabile, Toby Moore, Kelly AuCoin and David Cromer more than deserve a mention next to them for their strong performances throughout the season.

The music on Billions is fantastic and consistently excellent. I am very much looking forward to season 2 and would recommend it.
