Synopsis:
Rajnigandha, directed by Basu Chatterjee, is based on story "Yehi Sach Hai" by noted Hindi writer Manu Bhandari. The movie stars Amol Palekar, Vidya Sinha and Dinesh Thakur in the lead. Rajnigandha won the Best Picture, the Popular Award and the Critics Award at the Filmfare Awards in 1975. Rajnigandha was considered to have a realistic outlook on cinema in 1974, an era when potboilers were ruling Bollywood. The film was the first screen role of Vidya Sinha and first Hindi film of Amol Palekar, both of whom went on to work with Basu Chatterjee in many films.

Plot:
Deepa Kapoor (Vidya Sinha) lives with her brother and sister-in-law (Veena Godh)in Delhi. She studies in college. One day she meets Sanjay and after a series of meetings both fall in love and decide to get married after Sanjay gets a promotion. Deepa goes to Bombay for a job interview and meets with an old boyfriend Navin (Dinesh Thakur). This meeting rekindles her love for Navin, who is the very opposite of Sanjay, being punctual and attentive, and well-settled as a commercial film producer. Deepa now has the task of chosing to live with either Sanjay or Navin....
