The movie Love from the Authority is based on the real relationship of Kim and Krikit Carpenter , who wrote a book about their marriage , known as Love from the Authority. Ten weeks after their wedding on September 18, 1993 , the couple were in a car accident in which the Krikit suffered brain trauma , which took away the memories of her love with Kim , and their marriage . Kim is still deeply in love with his wife , although she sees him as a stranger after the accident . According to the couple , their faith in Jesus and the wedding vows before God kept them united .
