Homer Smith a reporter from small-town newspapers gets to go abroad and report on the war in a series of articles. On the way he gets shipwrecked and he teams-up with another survivor, Philo Cobson, who gives him a message to deliver to a woman in Cairo - should he survive. He delivers the message and is also convinced that the American singer-actress, Marcia Warren, is a spy and the leader of the big-six and that he has found a lead for a good newspaper-story.
