In 1970 the Zap! collective (RobGert Crumb, Gilbert Shelton etc.) planned a feature lenght animation with each of the contributors creating a segment.

The project was obviously never finished beyond a few story-boards and concepts.

Victor Moscoso instead turned his contribution into a comic book, and thus he might have created the first underground comic to be printed in colors, hence the title!
