Plot: A cross-addicted woman with a compulsion for glue-sniffing,
drugs, alcohol and cigarettes becomes the center for political debate when
she accidentally becomes pregnant and seeks an abortion. Ruth Stoops
(Laura Dern) becomes front page news when the Baby Savers take Ruth
under their protection (and roof) and attempt to clean up her act.
The other side immediately conspires to take Ruth away from the
right-to-lifers in a high tense abduction scheme to publicize her
right to an abortion. However, Ruth has plans of her own that do not
include either side of the issue.
