Plot: Police officers from New York City during the 70's wanted a place to live of their own, away from the city and the dangers of the workplace. Freddy Heflin (Sylvester Stallone) was appointed sheriff of Copland by the New York
City Mayor's office when Freddy was unable to qualify for New York City police duty due to his deafness in one ear. Internal Affairs officer Mo Tilden (Robert De Niro) is investigating allegations of mob affiliation and corruption by New York City officers living in Garrison and needs Freddy's help because his jurisdiction is limited to the City of New York. After a deadly incident on the New Jersey turnpike involving a fellow policeman nicknamed "Superboy" by the cops of Copland and a messy cover-up Freddy decides to get involved in the internal investigation.
