ABOUT THIS NEW SOUNDTRACK:
The music selected features passages from compositions by two of the greatest XXth century avant-garde composers: Ian Xenakis (Greece) and Toru Takemitsu (Japan). It also quotes from works by two famous theatrical composers from the "Weimar Republic" period, contemporary to Wiene's film: Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler. It also includes experimental electronic music. The overall effect intended by this new soundtrack is to enhance the film's atmosphere, its enduring strangeness, its unrealistic technique, its eeriness and dance-like movements.
