From a Bertold Brecht tale.
Ms. Berthe just turned 70 when her husband dies. Her existence has always been dull and laborious, entirely devoted to work and family. Children of the old lady get together and wonder what to do. But Madame Berthe decides to the everybody's amazement to completely change his habits and live a new life. She starts to go out, frequent restaurants and cinemas, befriends with a younger waitress and with Alphonse, an anarchist shoemaker...

Sra. Berthe acaba de fazer 70 anos quando seu marido morre. Sua existência foi sempre monótona e laboriosa, inteiramente dedicada aos trabalhos domésticos e à família. Os filhos da velha senhora se reúnem para decidir o que fazer dela. Mas Madame Berthe decide, para espanto geral, mudar completamente seus hábitos e viver uma nova vida. Ela começa a sair, frequentar restaurantes e cinemas, faz amizade com uma garçonete mais jovem e com Alphonse, um sapateiro libertário.

Les enfants de la vieille dame se réunissent autour d'elle et se demandent ce qu'elle va devenir. Mais Mme Berthe décide à la stupéfaction générale de changer complètement ses habitudes et de vivre une vie nouvelle. Elle se met à sortir, fréquente les restaurants et les cinémas, se lie d'amitié avec une serveuse délurée et avec Alphonse, un cordonnier anarchiste...
