Synopis:

Sgt. Howie travels to Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a young girl. He discovers that the locals are weird and unhelpful, and becomes determined to get to the bottom of the disappearance.

O Sargento Howie (Edward Woodward) recebe uma carta anônima com um pedido: investigar o misterioso desaparecimento de uma garota numa pequena ilha escocesa. Chegando lá, o virgem e devotado cristão conhece Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee), um estranho líder religioso, e descobre uma comunidade secreta que realiza bizarros rituais pagãos. O policial inicia então uma batalha interna: continuar devoto às suas crenças religiosas ou se entregar à tentação da carne - a bela Wilow (Britt Ekland).
