Dedicated to the Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians who continued to give hope singing in the face of oppression.

The film is a testimony to the fight for political self-determination by the people of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia during 50 years of Soviet occupation. It combines the traditional Song Festival in these republics with personal stories describing the fate of people in the Baltic countries.

A sequel to the film - "Postscript" features the tragic events in Vilnius and Latvia in January 1991, when two cameramen - Andris Slapiņš and Gvido Zvaigzne were killed during the shooting by the Soviet troops.
